Tips On How To Increase Traffic To Your Website

Here are some no-brainer tips that can help you increase website traffic. So get that note pad ready and jot down the methods your not doing and start to increase website traffic today.

One sure fire way to increase website traffic is to optimize your site. To optimize means to find keywords that people are searching on the web related to your site and make sure that you have content on your site with those keywords in it. For example, if I had a website on how to make quilts – people I want to attract to my websites are people searching for quilt patterns, how to make quilts, where to get materials for making quilts, etc. So, I would optimize my site with articles and videos that are on that topic.

When your site has been optimized for a related keyword, you can expect that the search engines will put your website in the listings. These listings are called the “Natural listings” meaning that Google (or another search engine) saw that you have information about “your topic” and they are now listing your website in the results when people search for that topic to increase website traffic to your site. When you show up in first page listings in a search engine you can almost guarantee that you will increase website traffic.

When you want to increase website traffic, you need to take note of the importance of search engines. Google, Yahoo and MSN are major search engines and it pays if you can submit your sites to these search engines. Links to your website is how you can get higher listings in the major search engines and start to increase website traffic. Links to your site, also known as backlinks, count as a vote that your site is recommended by the site that has linked to your website. You can increase your placement in the search engines, and increase website traffic, by getting more backlinks back to your site… but not just any backlinks. You need backlinks that also have your keyword in it or that are from a related site.

To advance brand recognition and to increase website traffic, you can also buy banner ads. You can find places to advertise on competitor sites and sites that are related to your website. For example, if you had a website on how to make quilts you would advertise on other quilt making websites, quilt pattern websites, and quilt material websites.

Instead of purchasing banners to increase website traffic you can also participate in banner exchange program. This will not cost a cent for you but you get to maximize the benefits through better brand recognition. You will only want to exchange banners with websites that are related to your topic. You wont get many clicks to your quilting site if you exchanged banners with an auto-mechanic.

Another technique you can use to increase website traffic is to comment on blogs that are also talking about your topic. So you may search the web for blogs on quilting. Signup for their RSS feed which will send you an email everytime they post on their blog. Then you can go read it and post a comment – which will get your websites name in front of more people that are reading about your topic, and eventually increase website traffic to your site.

For those with extra cash, and wants to increase website traffic, you need to see the importance of getting published and getting favorable reviews. To increase website traffic, why not write articles for publications on other websites. Or you can pay bloggers that have a blog related to your topic to write good reviews about your site as way to increase website traffic.

How To Increase Traffic To Your Website

To Increase Website Traffic You Must First Know the Basics

Now that you have started your website and posted content that is related to the topic, it’s now time to take a good look at website traffic and to increase website traffic. What’s the use of a website if there are no visitors and readers, right? Now, before you get too excited and jump ahead to advanced techniques to increase website traffic, you need first to know the basics behind website traffic. This way, your efforts to increase website traffic can be used to the fullest.

Making your website valuable will increase website traffic:

To make your website more valuable you want to increase the hits of the website, increase the page views, increase how long a visitor stays on your page, and also increase the number of unique visitors. For most owners out there, getting many page views is enough as a way to increase website traffic.

Page views happen when the visitor comes your website, but he leaves quickly. But that’s not the goal of your website. You want to increase the number of unique web visitors and return visitors. You can do this by putting relative and informative content on your website. For example, let’s say you had a website on how to make quilts. To increase your unique visitor count and how long visitors stay you your page you would want to upload videos, audio files, and articles that teach people how to make beautiful quilts.

By having relative content that people are searching for those visitors will spend more time on your site and tell others about your site – which would start to increase website traffic. But, if you were to put content on your page that taught how to cook Spanish rice – which is completely unrelated – then you would have many visitors “bouncing” off your site.

A unique visitor comes to your site and stays for a while to look at what you have to offer. A page view is when someone comes to your site spends less than a minute and then leaves. This is also known as a bounce.

Have you ever heard the term “Hits”?

Hits has the same meaning as a page view. The number of hits is not a good measure of the quality of traffic and as a basis to say that there is a need to increase website traffic. Rising hits is a not a good benchmark for quality traffic and not a way to increase website traffic. To increase website traffic, you need to focus on unique visitors, return visitors, and the length or user sessions.

To find out this how many unique visitors, page views, return visitors and how long visitors are staying on your site you will need to install a tracking software. There are many tracking software out there, but I find Google Analytics to be the easiest and cheapest (its free!).

How Tracking Can Help Increase Website Traffic

Once you have installed the tracking code on your site… Google Analytics will start to monitor all of the traffic that comes to your site. It will list what pages they visit on your site, how long they are staying on certain pages, and where your traffic is coming from. This is extremely important information for when you want to increase website traffic. Here are just 3 ways tracking can increase website traffic:

1. When looking to increase website traffic you’d refer to your Google Analytics reports to see where your website is lacking. If you bounce rate or page views is much higher than your unique visitor and returning visitor counts then you know that you need to put more related and valuable content on your website.

2. When you look at how long visitors stay on a certain page then you know the type of content visitors you are looking for. Add more of that content to your website and you’ll give visitors more of a reason to stay on your site or return to your site – which will increase website traffic.

3. Finally, look at where your traffic is coming from. If it’s the google natural search engines, start sharing articles on your topic on different article and video sites so that you can get more google listings. If your traffic is coming from a forum, then you should post more in that forum, or pay for an advertisement on that site so that you can attract more visitors from that site and increase website traffic.
